Why We Love Salmon Marinades For Meal Prep
Salmon is packed with nutrients, cooks quickly, and pairs well with so many flavors. Whether you’re baking it, pan-searing, or tossing it on the grill, it’s super versatile and toddler-approved (at least in this house). With the right marinade, even picky eaters will love it.
These salmon marinades are kid-friendly, freezer-friendly, and made with simple ingredients you probably already have at home. It’s all about easy healthy salmon marinade ideas that help get dinner on the table without the stress.
How to Prep Salmon for the Freezer
Here is how I like to prep my salmon marinades:
- Use fresh salmon. If you buy a large piece of salmon, cut it up into fillets that fits your family’s serving size.
- Pat dry and season with salt and pepper.
- Prep all the marinades in separate bowls.
- Portion salmon fillets by family serving size, this way you avoid defrosting more than needed. I have a family of 3 (including a toddler) so I portion my salmon with 2 1/2 fillets per meal.
- Add your fillets to freezer-friendly bags per marinade and pour the marinade on top.
- Label with date and marinade name.
- Freeze flat for easy stacking.

I use a FoodSaver vacuum sealer to make sure the salmon stays fresher longer and doesn’t get freezer burn. Properly vacuum sealed, marinated salmon can last up to 3 months in the freezer.
When you’re ready to cook, thaw it overnight in the fridge or place the bag in cold water to speed things up. These marinades work great for baked or grilled salmon.
